According to a research published by Jamia Millia Islamia University, New Delhi, in 2016, increasing urbanization, rising consumption and wealth might cause 5-fold hike in the amount of urban solid waste by 2051.

For India, it is a giant crisis to face in the near future. But civic authorities in Mysuru have got truly a viable solution with a bit of technology and presence of mind. Even better, it makes millions of rupees. Mysuru hasn’t became India’s cleanest city overnight. It already had 3 R’s – Reduce, Refuse, and Recycle. Now they have Reuse, another R. It conducts door-to-door collection of garbage and the way it manages the waste is totally incredible.

How They Make Money with Waste?

Mysuru residents have two types of dustbins in their homes, i.e. one for compost, while another for non-compost. Sanitary works whistle every morning for garbage collection. They load 170 auto-trippers and 400 push carts for recycling centers, a compost plant, 47 centers for dry waste collection, and 9 recycling centers. The trash is separated at the centers with reusable items like metal, footwear, bottles, and plastic cups that scrap dealers purchase. They make compost of the rest and send to farmers. They have a workable model to turn wet waste into compost in waste processing centers.

200 Tons of Compost Processed every day

Rs. 6 Lakh goes to Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) as royalty from an organization which manages city’s biggest compost plant, ILFS and processing centers sell dry waste and make Rs. 24,000 per month, according to CG Betsurmath, former MCC Commissioner.

Mysuru segregated 80% of its trash before processing and achieved 100% door-to-door collections. Mysuru has become an ideal city of India. It has huge network of drains of 1586 km and its public toilets are 98% poster-free and fully functional. It also avoids open defecation thanks to Swachh Bharat. In addition, people are also aware and do their best to keep their city clean.

Under a slum rehabilitation programme, total 6000 toilets were built in the city. It is the best way to deal with the issue of open defecation. Here, radio shows are not all about comedy and songs. They also run campaigns, such as morning radio jingles. In addition, pamphlets, street plays and WhatsApp messages helped a lot.

Mysuru produces up to 402 tons of waste every day. Around half of this waste is processed at compost plant and quarter of it is treated by garbage centers, according to Bloomberg.

Mysuru’s history of cleanliness is not new. Along with lavish palaces, its rulers also had a masterplan by 1903. Underground drainage was built in 1910 and street lighting in 1908.

8. The beverage is worse than a beating. An orderly force-feeds the girl a corrective concoction of liquid for misbehaviour. She does not know what she is drinking. The women in the centre share their suspicions that the beverage contains chlorine, bitter coffee and toilet water.

9. Sleep eludes the girls, told she is an abomination to her country’s God, a disappointment to her parents. She is an involuntary patient at an illegal, immoral clinic.

10. A girl is beaten with a TV cable for failing to pick up her bag from a chair, often other gay teenagers in the centre witness this. A book of anomalies worthy of punishment is read aloud daily to the group.

11. Each imprisoned woman spends hours and hours of her time on cleaning duties. Each day she is allocated to a cleaning group for the office, corridor, kitchen or bathroom. The girls later recall feeling empty or worse, feeling nothing. If the staff are not satisfied with her work, they insult and beat their charge on the spot.

12. The first time she was tied up was the night her parents hired men to sedate and kidnap her in order to bring her to the centre. Once there, she has been tied to a bed or left in the bathroom on many nights.

13. The young women enter the dining room in a line. They say ‘buen provecho’, eat their lunch in silence and say thank you. No talking occurs. On their plates is cheap tuna and rice, bread or bad noodle soup.

14. As part of the daily regime designed to ‘cure’ women of their sexuality, exercise takes place in the early morning or late at night. A therapist or orderly shouts at the girls over push-ups and squats.

“We were inspired by the Maharaja Express [a luxurious food and travel experience inside a train in New Delhi] and wanted to create something similar inside a plane,” Parampreet Singh Luthra, director of Hands Hospitality and the brain behind the innovative project, tells Mashable India.

When I told airplane restaurant, I mean an actual dining space created inside of an actual aircraft. But this is true a airplane turns restaurant named ‘Hawai Adda‘ and it is very exclusive, fancy and expensive. It has now been permanently parked at the Verka Milk Bar Premises on Ferozepur Road, as reported By National Restaurant Association Of India.

Hawai Adda, an airplane themed restaurant is fast becoming a popular fine dining restaurant.

The one of its kind eating house, which is already a huge hit in Ludhiana. In this eatery inside a bakery, cafe and a small banquet hall that can adjusted up to 40 people.

The Nanjing Towers will conduct over 3,000 plants comprising of 1,050 trees and nearly 2,500 shrubs from 25 different local species.

Italian architect, Stefano Boeri designed both of the tower and each towers will stand tall at a height of 656 feet and 354 feet respectively.

The taller tower will have house, offices, a museum, a terrace club and a green architecture school.

The smaller tower will have house a rooftop pool & a Hyatt hotel with 247 rooms.

The towers will be complete by 2018 and offer great views from balconies along with setting a great benchmark for enhance biodiversity.

Designer Stefano Boeri has already designed two towers in Milan, Italy known as the Bosco Verticale and similar construction will soon open up in Lausanne, Switzerland.

In a world where high-rise buildings are reaching for the skies, little effort in making them environment-friendly can go a long, long way.
