Whindersson Nunes Batista is a 22 years old Brazilian YouTuber, well known for his vlogs and parodies, and is also known for his movie reviews and comedy vlogs which have been viewed by over 2 billion times.
Initially, he found success on YouTube in 2012 when he struggled to keep it for up to 2 years when he uploaded a song parody “Alô vó, tô reprovado” which received over 5 million views in first week of its presence when he was invited to Bob Nunes’ house, a popular Brazilian YouTuber, as he didn’t have any place to live afterwards. His channel gained a lot of subscribers and views after that.
However, a day before opening his existing channel, it was deleted and hacked. So, Whindersson ended up starting again from scratch. However, whinderssonnunes gained more subscribers in YouTube in 2016. Also earlier this year, he was titled as second most influential star on YouTube, just behind PewDiePie, the most subscribed YouTuber, and he was named second most influential person in Brazil.
He has become the most subscribed Brazilian person with around 24 million subscribers recently. His channel has become YouTube’s 11th most subscribed channel. In the list of top 20 most subscribed channels, his channel is the youngest and he has been the youngest user in this list. He also performs standup comedy and acting along with his YouTube channel.
Whindersson Nunes Batista was born on January 5, 1995 in Palmeira do Piaui but he brought up in Bom Jesus, Piaui. When he turned 15, he decided to make his videos on YouTube. He was not successful after many attempts to get his channel famous. He returned after a break and produced videos for his channel.
When he launched the parody in 2012, his videos soon start getting more views. Within a week, he got over 5 million views. Then, he moved to Teresina, where he didn’t have any place to live. A YouTuber Bob Nunes invited him with his family to live in the north of the city in a neighborhood. The channel started to grow soon from there. But the channel was hacked in January 20, 2013 and hacked. But this incident couldn’t stop Whindersson to open the channel from scratch and achieve over 23 million subscribers.
Currently, the channel has around 20 million subscribers, around 300 videos, and over 1.5 billion views. He also has diverse content, including vlogs, parodies, movie reviews and songwriting. Some of its best features are scenery, simple editing, and his costumes. He makes his videos almost shirtless in a messy room, without any editing. He always says a term to start his videos “Hey kiddo watching this channel, How are you doing?”
He portrays his childhood and daily life in a fun way. Currently, his channel is second most influential channel on YouTube, according to a Snack Intelligence research. A parody “What’s the Wi-Fi Password” is another most-watched video in his channel which received over 40 million views.
He also does standup and acting. He is also in the cast with Julio Cocielo, Pc Siqueira, and Maju Trindade in “The Penetras 2” as newcomers, along with veterans like Marcelo Adnet, Mariana Ximenes, and Eduardo Sterbilitch. Whindersson Nunes is also in the cast along with various great YouTubers in “Internet – The Movie”, along with Christian Figueiredo, Kefera Buchmann, and Rafinha Bastos.
On July 14, 2016, his YouTube channel has crossed over 10 million subscribers and it has become the second most subscribed channel in Brazil, leaving behind Porta dos Fundos only. Later on, he surpassed them and became the Brazil’s most subscribed YouTube channel around three months later.
Snack Intelligence, the division of Snack Network channel on YouTube which analyzes and monitors the audiovisual market in the world, considered Whindersson as the second most influential YouTube star in the world in the same year, followed by Arvid Ulf Kjellberg, also known as PewDiePie. Along with it, Google released a survey in a partnership with Meio & Mensagam and Provokers consultants which revealed him as the second most influential personality in Brazil in the age group of 14 to 17 years old, followed by Luciano Huck.
